Youth Futsal Winter League
League Rules
Welcome to the IFC winter Futsal League. We thank you all for joining us and hope that we can aid in the development of your players. Please remember this league is simply for fun. This does not mean, however; we are taking away its competitive feel as all games should be competitive between the players/ teams with coaches and spectators cheering their teams on. However, we do want everyone to understand there is no World Cup title on the line nor a player/ coach $1 Million contract. We ask that all coaching staff help to aid our goals of developing each player within the league. Please keep this in mind and ensure the same
message is delivered to the spectators. IFC strives to make all our events an enjoyable experience for everyone.
Game format
For all ages, the games will play 5 vs 5 (4 on field players + a goalkeeper). 7U - 10U teams
will play on half court field. 11U + teams will play on Full Court.
* Please note that for the 10U games, we were able to squeeze in a time slot that allows
each of the teams to experience a full court game within their 4 week league play.
Game Times
The schedule of the games are run on a tight schedule in order to stay on time and to fit
all the games in. Each game will consist of X2 20 min halves with a 2 minute half time rest
period. There will be a 3 minute turn around period between games. This means that all
teams have 3 minutes to immediately exit the field after their game and for the new
teams to get on the court and be ready to play for the next games to start.
Game play
The Ball - the ball is a size 3 weight futsal ball in which IFC will provide for each game.
Out of bounds - If the ball goes out of bounds (where a throw-in would normally
occur) the ball must be placed on the floor with one hand placed on the ball at all times.
The ball is then kicked in from the ground.
Goalkeeper box - the goalkeeper area will be clearly marked and explained to all goalkeepers and coaches before their first game which will identify the markings used to
judge whether the ball is out of bounds or not. If the goalkeeper handles the ball out of
bounds then an indirect free kick to the opponent team will occur.
Overhead Height - for the encouragement of development within the futsal game,
the ball must be kept under a certain height rule to encourage players to keep the ball on the ground. This also discourages heading as this will also not be allowed during game play. The overhead height rule will ultimately be determined by the referee, they will then use the goal crossbar as their guidance for this rule. If the ball is played over this height,
then an indirect free kick will occur from where the last kick was taken. A reminder that
goalkeepers are encouraged to roll the ball out when distributing the ball from a save.
Yellow Cards - if a yellow card is shown to a player, then that players must be subbed out for at least 1 minute of natural play (an alternative sub can be put into play at that time). If a Coach is shown a yellow card, this will act as the same as it does in regular NCYSA season play and the coach is then cautioned. If two yellow cards are shown to a player or a coach, then that player must exit the field of play (with no sub to replace). The team will play down a player for the rest of the game; and the coach must exit the gymnasium, and a volunteer parent must be able to take the team over for the remainder of that game.
Straight Red Card - If a player is shown a straight red card, then that player would have to exit the field immediately, that player will not be allowed to play their next game but must be in attendance to serve their suspension. These same rules will apply to a coach
if they are shown a straight red. Depending on the severity of the infringement, that player or coach may be removed from the league completely.
Substitution - All Subs must be made at the halfway line and can only be made during a natural stoppage in play such as, sideline kick ins, after a goal or any injury that results in the injured player coming off the field.
Game points - Each team will earn points based on their game results. 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie
and 0 for a loss. Game results will be maxed out at a +5 for goals, meaning if a team wins 10-0 then the results will only display 5-0.
Team Uniforms - All teams must be in matching colors (Goalkeepers must be different from all players) IFC
will provide pinnies if needed. Once again, we thank you all for being a part of our 2024/25 winter league and look forward to providing you and the players a great experience.
